Twitter’s Chirp conference is apparently chock full of big announcements. Just a few hours ago, the Library of Congress (@libraryofcongress) announced that it has also apparently acquired the firehose of data that Google and Microsoft purchased. The Library of Congress has been pursuing Open Access and web archiving since 2000 when it began working to document the web presence of presidential campaigns.
The LoC announced the news, appropriately enough, on Twitter. Twitter isn’t just about being pretentious and notifying the world about the contents of your lunch (though it’s about those things too).
