The mega social networking site was brought down and showed a DNS failure. It was back in a couple hours, but let me know what you did with your life for the window of time that Facebook was no longer available.
- Want to see if other sites are down too? Check out Herdict from the Harvard’s Berkman Center. It’s easy and fun to see what sites are down, blocked, blacklisted, etc.
- Want to see everyone freaking out LIVE? Use this link to view Google results (Thanks Caleb in the comments!)
- Update (3:45 p.m. ET): Facebook tells Mashable that, “We’re currently experiencing some site issues causing Facebook to be slow or unavailable for some users. We are working to resolve this issue as quickly as possible. This is unrelated to yesterday’s outage.”
- Update (5:09p.m. ET) It’s back online. The U.S. recession also resumes.

Did you rethink your life goals? Wash your car? Go outside? Let me know in the comments or on Twitter (which is still up!) at @edudemic. Looking forward to hearing your comments!

Well now, I had no idea it was even down! That's awesome! I think it should go down more often. Sometimes I spend way too much time on that crazy site. I've been purposely staying away from it recently. That I didn't know about this is a good thing. It means I'm being successful at spending less time there! Rock On! Charlie
