Topics: , , , , , , ,

If you’re trying to explain what social media is, how it influences the world, or simply want to see a spectacular prezi presentation, look no further.

Nicholas Lamphere of the @HarvardSocial (as seen on Edudemic many moons ago!) group at Harvard University is teaching a course on social media and has just made his first presentation slideshow available to the public. It’s embedded below and well worth scrolling through. Nicholas knows what he’s talking about and has touched on all the important aspects of social media.

From RSS to micro-blogging to crowdsourcing, you’ll find a lot of new and interesting information in this presentation. Enjoy!

  10. My thanks to Nicholas Lamphere for including the SMQ Quiz in his presentation, and to the folks who've followed the link to the blog post that discusses its creation, usefulness, and potential improvements.

  11. HELP! I'm new to the world of Social Media and was using this presentation as a a tool to help me put the multitude of elements into perspective. I have been looking for "Harvard's Must-Have Guide to Social Media" for the past 2 weeks and cannot find it. Has it been moved? Please tell me how I can access this wonderful tool which has been the most comprehensive I have found as a newbie to start to gain some perspective on the big pix of "Social Media"

  12. I looks like the prezi has been moved or removed. You'd have to contact Nicholas Lamphere directly to find out if it's still available. In the meantime, you may find the Social Media Primer I've been developing useful. Here's a link to a web page that has links to all the parts written so far:

    • Thanks Courtney. I have been using your Primer also along with the prezi. I was remiss in not mentioning it. It too is an excellent tool that brought me into the 21st century on how to use SM. When is the next section due out?
