Viral Twitter Meme Makes You Wonder Who Actually Reads Your Tweets

I thought I was being creative when I copied @MrMacnology’s tweet that said “One day I want to copy someone’s Tweet word for word and see if they notice” to see if he’d notice… but it turns out, well, a LOT of people are writing that exact tweet.

The tweet with those words has “gone viral” according to the HuffPost and a few other online news agencies. According to HuffPo,  there’ve been more than 1,500 “One day I want to copy…” tweets posted in the last hour. According to Google Realtime, it reached a peak around 3:40PM ET yesterday (Friday 1/14/11).

Although it’s not clear who started the flurry of tweets, Twitter user @ShivamLM appears to have been one of the early Twitterers to tweet the phrase. Foursquare founder Dennis Crowley, who has some 24,000 followers, tweeted the phrase less than an hour ago.

While many users are tweeting the phrase, it seems that (like any viral hit) it’s already losing steam:
