I know many of the people in my PLN use Google’s Blogger as it is an easy-to-use system for getting your thoughts online. While other sites like Posterous and Tumblr are making increasingly easy publication systems, Blogger has always been huge.
How huge? Blogger is literally one of the 10 biggest websites in the world. Much bigger than WordPress.com, Tumblr, and really almost every other website.
Blogger is 11 years old and, well, kinda looks it. That’s about to change. At SXSW today, Google showed off a sneak peek (video above) of what’s coming to the new Blogger setup. Google calls the redesign “cleaner and more modern.” Google also teased updated analytics, new publishing features, an updated mobile interface and “smarter content discovery.”
Google published a few screenshots of the new interface (included at the end of this post) showing off an interface that is essentially a complete departure from Blogger’s current UI. There’s no set date for the launch of Blogger’s redesign, but we assume Google’s just polishing the product, since the company is already showing it off.
