Klout has unveiled a new feature: topic pages. Think of it as a list of the top influencers about almost any topic. From education to social media to technology to, well, anything…it’s a great new tool to find influential people to follow online.
What’s Klout?
You might be asking, what is Klout? If you’ve never heard of it, it’s basically a way to get a score of how influential you are in social media. From Twitter to Facebook to LinkedIn and beyond, Klout will examine all your networks and then assign you a score from 1-100. Right now, I believe only Justin Bieber has a 100 score and most are in the 30-60 range. If you’re someone with thousands of followers and use social networks on a regular basis, you may even hit the 70 range.
FYI: Edudemic is a 68 right now as of this writing. (Feel free to link up so you can check out the doggy profile picture I made for my pup’s birthday!)
I’m still not completely sure why someone’s Klout score actually matters but it’s a good way to add a little bit of organization to the wild west that is social media. That being said, there are tons of other terrific influencers in the world of education and this is simply the list assembled by Klout.
In order to view nearly anything on Klout, you have to have an account. It’s easy to set one up as you can use Facebook or Twitter to register in just under a minute.
Topic Pages
One of the topics of most interest to me is Education, of course. When you click on the Education topic page (if you’re logged in), you’ll be greeted by a sort of Top 10 list of influencers in education. Who is on the list? Well, it varies day-by-day but the list is not that surprising if you’ve spent some time on the education side of social networks. Enough chatter, here’s the list as it stands right now. Enjoy!
