Looking for that perfect piece of vivid imagery to make your bulletin board, website, or blog stand out? Just check out any of the following stock image resources and you’re on your way. Each one of these offers some images for free. They may not be the exact image you want and Google Image Search may still be your best bet… but it’s worth a shot.
I’ve left out some of the biggest stock image resources as they’re quite well known. Places like iStockPhoto, Shutterstock, fotolia, and Getty Images. Feel free to check them out too!

Also consider http://www.stickstock.com
perhaps http://www.123rf.com . I found their images are pretty good and the price are affordable. They even provide free images section.
Great resources !
Thx
A good overview which is really useful although I always prefer to pay for images to avoid getting caught out. This is a really good site for info on stock photos and they've got loads of promo codes too! http://www.whichstockagency.com.
Great post. You can't beat Stock.xchng for free images but I have to admit I prefer iStock, Veer, Getty & Alamy – budget permitting! They're always great resources in my opinion. I've never heard of Stickstock and I'm not sure I'd ever use them having seen their site (!) but I have used 123rf before and they're good. Whichstockagency is new to me but I'm definitely going to bookmark the site for the special offers and client review page which I really like.
