I’m a huge fan of Khan Academy and excited to see it’s more popular than ever before. According to founder and namesake Salman Khan, the website is now seeing about 3.5 million unique visitors per month. Incredible? Yes. Surprising? Not really. Khan Academy is a terrific resource and has been growing for a reason.
Sal Khan took the stage at the Web 2.0 Summit in San Francisco to unveil some more staggering statistics: 39 million pageviews and a 309-percent increase year-over-year in unique visitors. This comes after Khan Academy received donations from The Gates Foundation and also won Google’s “Project 10^100.″ All told, Khan Academy has received more than $2 million in donations.
In case you’re unfamiliar with Khan Academy, it’s a non-profit organization with more than 2,600 YouTube videos that help educate anyone and everyone. The videos are organized and there are additional resources and accompanying documents for each lesson. It’s a terrific ‘second teacher’ for anyone struggling with particular problems in school.
I’m proud to say I’ve met Sal Khan and saw him speak at NBC Education Nation last month. He is a dynamic, intelligent, and deserving man who is going to keep doing some terrific things in the education technology space. You can rest assured Edudemic will be trying to keep up.
What Is Khan Academy?

No doubt KA is a great resource and many great teachers have been posting videos on YouTube as well.
Check http://Utubersity.com which presents the best educational videos available on Youtube in an organized, easy to find way to watch and learn.
They are classified and tagged in a way that enables people to find these materials more easily and efficiently and not waste time browsing through pages of irrelevant search results.
The website also enhances the experience using other means such as recommending related videos, wikipedia content and so on. There’s also a spanish version called http://utubersidad.com
Khan Academy is great and it is even better when you, as a teacher, can share Khan’s content with your students through the use of ipads. The app I’m talking about is Nearpod, which has featured presentations from Khan Academy but it comes with questions and assessments included, videos and polls! it works fine when trying to engage your class. you just need to download the app, sign up and there you’ll be: ready to enjoy khan’s content. If you liked my idea, Nearpod’s webpage is http://www.nearpod.com
I hope you have a look at it!
