Get Inspired By Thomas Edison In Just 3 Minutes

Looking for a bit of inspiration this week? Last Saturday (February 11th) was Thomas Edison’s birthday. I though it would be fun for all the educators, students, and innovative people reading this to take a moment and remember Edison… and to get inspired by his work. The 3 minute video below got me excited to do big things. I hope it does the same for you.

Edison didn’t just invent. He improved on a lot of products in his time rather than just inventing new ones. In fact, Edison is the fourth most prolific inventor in history, holding 1,093 US patents in his name, as well as many patents in the United Kingdom, France, and Germany. He is credited with numerous inventions that contributed to mass communication and, in particular, telecommunications. These included a stock ticker, a mechanical vote recorder, a battery for an electric car, electrical power, recorded music and motion pictures.

His advanced work in these fields was an outgrowth of his early career as a telegraph operator. Edison originated the concept and implementation of electric-power generation and distribution to homes, businesses, and factories – a crucial development in the modern industrialized world. His first power station was on Manhattan Island, New York. -Wikipedia

So why not take Edison as inspiration and invent or improve upon something today? Let his hard work be your inspiration. What will you invent today?
