If you’re like me, you’re always looking around for a new way to discover educational web 2.0 tools. Sure, Edudemic does a solid job of keeping you abreast of what’s new, fun, and happenin’ in the world of education technology… but we’re no app store. Lucky for you (and us), there now is an edtech app store! Well, it’s more like an app directory but you get the point.
It’s called edshelf and is an easy-to-use directory all the great web 2.0 tools out there just waiting for educators to try them out. You can share your experience with the tools, add your own, store a ‘shelf’ of your favorite tools, and more. All in all, it’s a useful site that you should probably bookmark right now.
It would appear that edshelf is a loyal reader of Edudemic as they actually have apps in the store in the same order as they’re published on Edudemic. I love it! Keeps me inspired to keep the hits comin’. Anyway, edshelf seems to be a terrific place to find new apps you may not know about. I’ve been seeing a lot of these types of directories / stores opening on almost a daily basis. ClassroomWindow and EdSurge have been doing a similar thing for quite awhile and are also worth checking out. After all, the more people working to find YOU the best tools… the better!
About edshelf:
Our mission is to make a positive impact in the world by making education more efficient and effective. We strive to enable educators to do what they do best, teach and inspire.
edshelf is a directory of websites, mobile apps, and desktop software that are rated & reviewed by educators, for educators. We decrease the friction of using and procuring effective technology into the classroom.
In the winter of 2011, two educators told us how enthusiastically exasperated they were of the growing digital revolution of education technology. They wanted a simple way to know which tools were most effective for their needs. edshelf is the result of that collaboration. “Go build this, please,” they said. We did. And we’ve been working with them, and other educators, ever since.
