I don’t usually use exclamation points in the titles of posts, but this one calls for it. The new, totally redesigned, all-new Edudemic Magazine iPad app is now available. It’s a huge update that took quite awhile to fully realize. The good news is that it should fix every single bug that cropped up in previous versions.
Long story short, the new app is better, more robust, and your current purchases / subscriptions are all still active and working.
**Please take a moment to rate & review this new version in iTunes if you like. It’d be much appreciated!**
The Developers
I want to take a moment to thank the incredible team at MAZ who designed, developed, and launched this entirely new version of the Edudemic Magazine iPad app. They were transparent, helpful, and responsive to all my idiotic questions. If you’re looking to start a magazine or e-book of your own, check them out here (tell them Jeff sent you).
What’s New?
Retina Display Ready!
All issues look great on the new iPad.
Pinch & Zoom!
You actually couldn’t pinch and zoom in the old app. Crazy, right? Now you can. Pinch and zoom to your heart’s content.
Portrait / Landscape Mode!
This is now enabled for a better viewing experience on every issue (past, present, and future)
Clippings!
It’s a social-media based feature that allows you to clip an area of the page much like a magazine and share it via Twitter and Facebook and email. You can cut out any area of any page with two fingers, whether it’s a quote or a face or a block of text and share it via social media.
Free Previews!
You can now view the first dozen or so pages of every issue for no charge. In the previous version, you could only ‘pay to play’ which was no fun. Now you get to view a preview of any issue before buying. Now if only we could do that with all apps in the app store…
Website Integration!
You can now view Edudemic.com right from the iPad app. Just tap the gear on the top right and then ‘Visit Website’
Better Help Tips!
You can now see exactly how to do anything you want in the app. From learning about all the new features to subscribing, restoring purchases, and more… just tap the top right gear icon and then ‘help.’
Restore Purchases Actually Works!
The old version didn’t always restore purchases. The new app actually, well, works. The constant battle is over. Just tap the top right gear icon then ‘Utilities’ then ‘Restore Purchases.’ If you have an active subscription, you’ll get instant access to your purchased issues.
Android Version Coming Soon!
Now that the iPad app is finished and launched, Android is next. Look for that very soon.
Behind The Scenes!
It probably doesn’t matter to you, but it is now about 100x easier to launch each issue. Thanks to the amazing developers over at MAZ, we can build an issue and launch it in record time.
How To Get The App?
It’s still in the Apple App Store here. The app is free to download but you obviously pay for the full issues. The free previews of each issue are, well, free. So feel free to grab the app, take a look at some previews, and see if it suits you. We hope you won’t be disappointed with all our hard work.
All that articles in the magazine are unique and not found anywhere online. These articles are what we do when we’re not working on Edudemic or at our other full-time jobs. Because we love it. Hope you do too.
Restoring Purchases
When you download the new version of the app, you may have to ‘Restore Purchases’ if you’re a current subscriber or have bought single issues in the past. Just tap the top right gear… then ‘Utilities’… then ‘Restore Purchases’… type in your password and you should be all set!
Quick Note From Jeff
I started and run Edudemic and the Edudemic Magazine because it’s what I love to talk, think, and write about. My wife Katie and I are proud to oversee every aspect of Edudemic and want to take a quick moment to thank every single person who has read this far down into this lengthy post. I know the magazine has been plagued by some technical issues and I want to sincerely apologize. That’s why I’m so thrilled to have worked with MAZ to deliver this fabulous (I think, at least) new app.

Questions?
You can now report bugs directly from the app! Just tap the top-right gear icon, then hit ‘Utilities’ and then ‘Report Bug.’ It’ll open up a pre-written e-mail that you can send to the support team at MAZ. They’re the builders of the app so they’ll know exactly what to do / how to fix any issue you’re having.

Hi, I’ve had the subscription for a while. When I updafed I lost issue 2 and even more, the while mag isnt interactive anymore (vol 3 p 5 the graphic isn’t a rollable?). Please don’t make this one step back!
Hey Geoff, first off thanks for subscribing! Second, I’m re-adding that functionality to the issue 2 and other issues. You can now tap on things to open new windows and other stuff. Sorry for the confusion!
Thanks…I really enjoy reading.
BTW, has the update made it into the app store? I’m not seeing it.
Post-update all I get is a message “Magazine can not be downloaded at this time” – no matter how many times I try.
We’ve seen about 40,000 downloads of the new version, hope you’ve gotten this cleared up C Patterson!
