A new multitouch television is hitting the market at the end of this month and it’s like a 55″ iPad. In fact, it’s got basically no bezel and could be stacked on top of each other to become a Voltron-esque Super iPad Wall. That’s how I’d describe it at least. It’s a little like Microsoft Surface too.
In any case, the new 55″ MultiTaction Cell MT553UTB may not have the sexiest name but it does have some futuristic features. It features a 1.9mm bezel on the bottom and left, 3.8mm bezel on the top and right, and is basically invisible from a moderate distance. Expect to see these at trade shows and major events very soon.
Coming Soon To A Classroom Near You
But before they hit your local superdome or stadium, they’re coming to the classroom. That’s actually the plan for MultiTouch (the manufacturer) and it’s got me beyond excited. To know that the first goal of this product is to aid in education speaks volumes about the current state of education technology. Amazing.
The television features optical touch sensors, 200 frames-per-second gesture tracking, unlimited numbers of simultaneous users (that’s big!), full hand recognition, infrared pen and touch interaction, ID badges, barcodes, game pieces, and more. This is likely going to be a big part of the classrooms of the future.
Even More Info
We’re examining this bad boy a bit more in the upcoming October issue of the Edudemic Magazine for iPad. And, come to think of it, the bezel on the iPad is absolutely enormous compared to the one on this ultra-thin LCD television.
Shipment starts in late September. Click here for more info.
