Have you ever wanted to try out Skype in the classroom but didn’t know where to start? We’ve published numerous guides filled with tips and tricks but there’s a glaring problem: how do you find a partner classroom to Skype with?
Until now, you had to do Google searches, Twitter hashtag searches, and generally spend a lot of time searching. Wouldn’t that time be better spent actually finding and speaking to your new digital pen pals?
So I figured, hey why not create a simple spreadsheet that lets all the classrooms around the world share their contact info, availability, and what they’d like to talk about … in a simple spreadsheet.

Want to find a classroom to Skype with?

Hi, can I please make this addition? For any teacher French (FLE) trying to find a colleague that is willing to speak to your class, have a look here. http://issuu.com/erikdevlies/docs/flextra_10d_c12/1
Sign up and get added to the list. You an easily be a FLExtra for your colleague.
How do I get in touch with another school listed?
Use skype and add their Skype Name to your contact list. Good luck!
May I make a suggestion? Create separate columns for city, state, country. Add columns for mother tongue and learned language in which to communicate.
As this list grows into the hundreds, it would make it easier to locate classrooms of interest.
Great idea Bill, appreciate it! Will update the form this week.
This might be of interest – a Mystery Skype collaboration between several global education organisation. The contact person, Louise, would be happy to share how she’s organising the contact directories.
We have a fair bit of experience with global contact directories at The Global Classroom Project, as our directories have been one of our greatest assets for enabling teachers to find global connections.
