The following is by friend-of-edudemic Katie Test (that’s her on the right) who works at ASCD.
As one of the social media managers for ASCD, I’m always on the lookout for ways to engage the association’s stakeholders online. We make it our goal to share our resources and information on a wide variety of platforms, meeting educators where they are. So, when we learned that Pinterest was a place where lots of educators are going to help learn, share and grow their professional networks, we decided to jump right in and build up some educational pins.
ASCD joined the social media network Pinterest in June. Pinterest is an image sharing website with more than 11 million users who log into the site and create a virtual pin board to collect images and videos that are meaningful to them. The images can be quotes, photographs, graphics, poems, infographics and everything in between.
We curate eight ASCD boards on topics ranging from the Common Core State Standards to Professional Development. We also feature inspirational quotes from ASCD authors and leaders, as well as tips and techniques for educators.
Teachers, principals and administrators use Pinterest to help plan classroom ideas, collect learning strategies and stay abreast of the latest trends, like education technology. Pinterest is free to join and is available on mobile platforms. I really encourage you to join if you have not yet!
Below are a few of ASCD’s most popular pins on Pinterest (click them to view on Pinterest) – some of our greatest hits, if you will. Feel free to add them to your board today!
