We talk a lot here about different apps that you can use on your tablets. Whether they are apps being used in class by your students, or workflow management apps to help you manage your school and home life, there sure are a lot of them out there. But we haven’t talked much about news consumption on the tablet. While this handy infographic doesn’t break down popularity by app, it does show a couple of important tidbits of information that are relevant to our students.

  • Publication apps (newspapers, magazines, etc) are the second highest grossing app category in the USA.
  • Of the publication apps, magazines are the most popular, and news magazines are the most popular of those.
  • This means that your students are consuming a ton of information on their tablets – and they’re accustomed to an immediacy of information along with interactive content.

How does this affect how you teach things like current events in your classroom, or how you use supplemental publications like magazines in your teaching? We’d love to hear from you!
