Everything you put on social media lives forever. You may delete it. You may hide it. But there are backups of backups made all the time by sites like Google, Facebook, and Twitter (Library of Congress, for example) so you should know that if you put something online … someone will find it. Maybe not immediately. Maybe not for years. But rest assured that when you put something up and then apply to a job later on in life, your potential employer will find it.

  • It’s easy really. Keep personal and private separate.

    I have personal accounts on FB & Twitter for me, and we have “company” accounts as well and they never meet.

    A friend on FB has a personal page and a “professional” page and they never meet.

  • This is really nice guide to use social media effectively in our daily life. This is the trend today to look at anything on social media. I think Facebook should be given credit for all this revolution. It’s great. I love the pictorial representation.

  • I closed my private FB account as soon as I started getting requests from the people who I’m not comfortable sharing my privacy with. But that’s the social media life – we all see and use it differently.
